 | Mar 20, 2011 11:18 am - Dog Leash Training And Dog Behavior Positive approaches to dog training. You don’t want your adopted or new puppy to be scared of you. Have you ever had a new puppy and you trying to teach your puppy to do everything you feel he needs to be doing?
It’s been relatively nippy outside and in some places rather snowy. Well the weather is warming up now. The season has changed and now it is time to take out the leash and start taking your new puppy outside again to mingle with everyday life. It’s easy to set aside you dog’s behavior problem in the winter time.
So, how are you going to stop him from tugging on the leash, barking at other animals or people? How are you going to keep your dog from making you feel uncomfortable in public, or perhaps accidently harm someone?
This is how! This is all part of dog behavior. It is time now to train your dog.
Some times the humor of seeing your dog pulling you on a leash can be a bit funny providing the dog is huge and the person is small. The last time I saw this happen was my neighbor had their rottweiller chained to a huge tree in the front yard {friendly to} i might add, a man that was doing his daily jog around the neighborhood happened to be jogging by. Needless to say the rotty happened to see someone he liked. He even happened to know this man. With that said.
Dogs pull on leashes as a matter of impulse. As hunting critters, they live for the thrill. So often they pull because they are on the quest for something {cat, another animal, person, or thing}. But there are other reasons just as normal. They can be just plain excited after their training workout.
What so ever the reason the customary way to address this issue involves a cycle of involvement.
*The dog pulls on the leash, you stop
*give a sharp verbal command {No or Stop} something the two of you can relate to.
*with a fast tug on the leash
*Start walking again
*Repeat
Given enough repeated times this technique will work.
For more tips see how to fix separation anxiety between you and your new puppy. Dog training is time consuming, but worth every minute spent.

 | Feb 28, 2011 6:53 am - Training Your Siberian Husky to Pay attention to You Countless times I hear from brand-new Siberian Husky owners, why doesn’t my husky pay attention to me? The reply to this lies in a number of unique parts. To begin just what method of training do you apply? Do you compensate your husky making use of dog bones? Do you use equipment including head halters? Have you utilised a clicker to make your husky pay attention to the directions that you supply?
Other factors that can identify the basis of the issue is the way you issue the directions. Do you find yourself raising your voice in an attempt to make the husky listen to you?
More often than not if you responded no to most of those questions then you should look more carefully at the method of training you’re applying. Before a person can start to train a Siberian Husky they must first understand how they tick. Keep in mind your husky isn’t the identical to the next door neighbor’s Labrador retriever. How they respond and accept training and commands is a lot different.
Remember Siberian Huskies possess a great deal of the natural instincts and traits that wolves do. Inside of a wolf pack the chief is referred to as the Alpha Dog. Everyone in the pack listens to the orders of the Alpha. When training a Siberian Husky the pack is your family group that means a person has to initially identify yourself as the alpha dog belonging to the pack. Your husky must fully accept that you are the main one in control.
As alpha you should always be the individual to both go out and come in through the entry door first. You should be the first one to eat your dinner and give food to the husky only once you’ve finished your own meal. Whether or not it is a treat always provide them with something after every time Though for a few people it might be difficult, never ever allow your Siberian husky to sleep with you in bed. It is important to set aside a selected area for the husky to fall asleep. Also when drawing near to him or her lying down on the floor, never ever circle around them, make them get out of your path. These are all techniques for asserting oneself as the leader of your pack.
You will find it much simpler to train the husky upon having efficiently established oneself as the alpha. If you can not know how to make a husky listen to you, then it will be hard to teach your Siberian Husky.
The next obstruction to take on is identity. Does your Siberian Husky know his or her name? For instance when you call out your dog’s name will they look at you? This is likely the most crucial Husky Training Resource . If your Siberian Husky isn’t going to know their name then just how are you planning on getting their focus when trying to make them learn commands?
The first phase in Siberian Husky Training should be to have a treat in your hand and hold it out from you. After doing so, call out the Siberian Husky’s name. Because most huskies are food inspired, they will more than likely check out the cookie inside your hand. Repeat speaking the siberian husky’s name till the dog turns their head and looks at you directly in the eyes. At this time give them the treat immediately. Keep repeating this by switching hands between the two only giving them the treat when they are looking at you in the eye. As soon as you are positive your Siberian Husky knows his or her name call their name and just reward them by praising them, for instance petting them or perhaps giving them a big husky hug. Understand Siberian Huskies react far better to positive reinforcement and will often rebel against coercion or force.Add a Reply |
 | Jan 08, 2011 5:52 am - R.I.P. TOMMY_ I am writing this on behalf of TOMMY_ he was found laying on the floor of the kitchen dead on the morning of 04 January 2011.
I’m glad he lived as long as he did, the cause of death was apparently old age.
TOMMY_ enjoyed the outdoors and visiting the neighbors and was quite a skilled hunter back in his younger days, it was quite amusing to see what he would bring home from one of his "hunts".
TOMMY was also easy going and never really bothered anyone, all I can say at this point is, good night sweet prince, you will be missed. Rest well my friend, you were one cool cat.Add a Reply |

 | May 24, 2010 2:27 pm - Dog Bronchitis: Is your doggy coughing? Dog bronchitis usually affects small to medium-sized breeds that are over one year of age. The causes of dog bronchitis are not always known. However, researchers say that cigarette smoke and urban pollution could be one of the causes that lead to bronchitis. The overpowered immune system of a dog with frequent viral or bacterial infection is most of the time unwilling to protect the dog from such infection. Therefore symptoms such as wheezing, loss of appetite, frequent gagging and sometimes fever may occur. A dog’s weight is very important factor to control the aftermath of bronchitis. Usually average-weight dogs with bronchitis display less severe symptoms than obese dogs. Cigarette smoke, dusts, or sprays must be removed from the dog’s environment in order to facilitate their fast recovery. Consult your veterinarian if severe symptoms such as fainting after coughing or fever occur. They usually prescribe cough suppressants and anti-inflammatory drugs. Till next time, good luck in life and health.Add a Reply |
